Week 1: Shockers off to quick start

At the end of the first week of play, the '82 Wichita State Shockers are off to the early lead, with Cal State and Texas following close behind.   The Shockers have been paced by .400+ hitting from Jim Spring and Loren Hibbs, while Phil Stephenson and Jim Thomas are each tied for the league lead in RBIs.  Proving that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Spring's daughter Kelli (pictured left) is an all-state softball player who will be playing for her dad's alma mater beginning in 2013.  Off to a slow start (as they did in real life) are the Oklahoma State Cowboys, with a league-high 16 errors and league-worst 5.66 team ERA.  Incaviglia's bat has been silent for OSU, as he is hitting .219 with no homers after the first week.
